THE GOOD BISCUIT is fancied to get back to winning ways by beating nine opponents for the Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap (3.05) at Haydock on Thursday afternoon.

The Jack Channon-trained son of Sixties Icon landed his first career success in a Leicester seller last July, following up in a novice stakes at Lingfield Park four days later.

The Good Biscuit has met with defeat on both his starts in handicap company, but a narrow comeback defeat at Leicester suggested he is up to winning in the sphere.

Sent off at 9-2 in a field of six for a six-furlong event – he was gelded during 303 days off the track – The Good Biscuit came home well to finish half a length behind all-the-way victor Sergeant Wilko.

A 1lb nudge up the weights won’t inconvenience David Probert’s mount to any great degree and The Good Biscuit is expected to go one better.

At Chelmsford, MERRY MINISTER makes plenty of appeal in the M J Bushell Handicap (6.15).

Brett Johnson’s son of Churchill is on the same mark as when beaten a nose over this course and distance three starts ago, and the booking of the excellent Rossa Ryan catches the eye.
