New Ontario Express Entry Draw Sent Out 1,277 PR Invitations
Last Updated On 11 July 2024, 1:44 PM EDT (Toronto Time)
Today, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) invited 1,277 profiles for provincial nomination in a new Ontario Express Entry Draw under the Skilled Trades Stream.
All the Express Entry profiles with experience in one of the 46 skilled trade occupations listed as primary NOC and a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 408 and 435 were selected in this round of invitations.
Furthermore, active Express Entry profiles created between July 11, 2023, and July 11, 2024 meeting the above criteria were eligible for this OINP draw.
When compared to the previous OINP Skilled Trades Stream draw, the cutoff score range has increased significantly.
The lower range of the CRS score has jumped by 58 points from 350 in the previous draw on March 1 and the upper range has increased by 11 points.
OINP usually decides the upper range of the CRS score based on the previous federal Express Entry draw for 10 trade occupations.
However, concerns have been repeatedly raised by trade candidates in the pool since profiles with experience in the rest of the 35–36 occupations are left out of both OINP Express Entry draws and Federal Express Entry draws.
Invited candidates will now have 45 days to accept the invitation and submit a complete application to claim the provincial nomination.
The provincial nomination enhances the candidate’s current Express Entry profile by 600 points.
The invited profiles’ Express Entry CRS score will rise to between 1,008 and 1,035, making it a kind of guarantee for selection in the upcoming PNP or all program Express Entry draws.
A distinct OINP profile is not needed for the Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream draw; rather, valid profiles must fit into one of the trade occupations that are eligible for this draw.
OINP regularly reviews IRCC’s Express Entry pool to find profiles that may meet the criteria for one of Ontario’s Express Entry streams.
So far, the OINP Express Entry Skilled Trades stream has invited 6,412 profiles in 3 draws, compared to a total of 7,512 invitations issued in 2023 under this stream.
