New leader after second round of FireKeepers Golf Championship

BATTLE CREEK – Getting hot at the right time can be a difference maker on the golf course. Dana Fall is proof of that as she took the lead after Day 2 of the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Golf Championships at Battle Creek Country Club on Saturday.

Fall has finished inside the top six in her last two starts on the Epson Tour. She grabbed some of that personal momentum again late in the round on Saturday as the 31-year-old birdied six of her last 11 holes to shoot a 5-under 67. Fall is minus-6 for the tournament with a one stroke lead over Anita Uwadia, the first-round leader.

“I think my game’s definitely in a good spot. The last two days have been a little shaky. It’s been a little scrappy, and I definitely have left some out there, but I obviously can’t complain,” said Fall, who has made 110 LPGA Tour starts and 37 Epson Tour starts. “I’m not going to give away any of my secrets, but it’s been good to be in contention. I like being there and ready to capitalize on it.”

There is a three-way tie for third after the second round with Amelia Lewis, Brooke Matthews and Vivian Hou all at minus-4.

The final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday at Battle Creek Country Club. The leaders will tee off at 12:30 p.m.
