New footage captures bizarre moment Ramos is ‘two-footed’ by security guard

New footage shows the bizarre moment Portugal’s Goncalo Ramos was taken out by a steward following their Euro 2024 win over Turkey.

Security lapses were on full display as SIX people managed to invade the pitch in an attempted to get a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Once such instance happened after Portugal’s 3-0 win and left Ramos in a heap on the group.

As the fan dodged security guards, one slipped right in front of Paris Saint-Germain forward and seemingly ‘two-footed’ him.

Ramos limped away with his Portugal teammates, including Ronaldo who was just yards away, looking shocked at what happened.

Several different angles of the incident have now appeared on social media, with one showing Ronaldo shaking his head as he walks away.

The first incident saw Ronaldo share a hug before posing for a photograph with a young boy who had burst onto the field of play, which led to other fans also trying their luck.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward became more fed up with each pitch invader as the game was stopped multiple times in the second half.

Portugal boss Roberto Martinez admitted he was concerned by what transpired with fans easily gaining access to the pitch.

He said: “It is a concern. It is a concern because today we were lucky that the intentions of the fans were good. I think we all love a fan that recognises the big stars and the big icons in their lives. I think we all agree with that.

“But you can understand that there is a very, very difficult moment. If those intentions are wrong, the players are exposed and we need to be careful with that. I don’t think it should happen in a football pitch. I think there is a lot of security and there is a lot of protection.

“I don’t think that should happen. Probably we should give a message to the fans. It is not the right way. You are not going to get anything out of it.

“What you do is that probably the measures get worse for the future. It is not good to get the players so exposed when you have people running on the pitch.”

Speaking on commentary for talkSPORT, host Adrian Durham raised concerns over the sheer number of fans who were able to get to him.

He said: “I’ve got to say, there were fans running onto the pitch to get a selfie with Ronaldo at the start of the first Portuguese game.

“Fans running on the pitch at the end of the second, I think we all knew that was likely to happen or fans were likely to try and do that before the tournament even started.

“It will be nice if UEFA and security in each of the stadia could just wise up to what’s going on because there’s a real fear one of those fans could get close to him and then the worst case scenario is absolutely unthinkable.

“These fans are getting as close to him as they want and it’s got to stop, hasn’t it?”

Portugal confirmed their qualification to the knockout stages with a game to spare with victory over Turkey following strikes from Premier League pair Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes sandwiched between a bizarre own goal from Samet Akaydin.
