Murder charges for two Brampton men after Hamilton woman gunned down at shopping mall | inBrampton
A Brampton man has been charged with first-degree murder and a second man is under arrest on an accessory charge after a 21-year-old Hamilton woman was shot to death outside Vaughan Mills shopping mall north of Toronto late Tuesday afternoon.
Homicide detectives with York Regional Police laid the charges in the wake of the 5:30 p.m. shooting in the parking lot of the popular GTA shopping centre.
Police said responding officers found Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the mall. She was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
In a news release issued on Wednesday, police said they have not yet confirmed the relationship between the two accused and the victim, but it’s believed the two men knew the Hamilton woman.
“Investigators believe the incident is targeted and there is no threat to public safety. There are no outstanding suspects or vehicles,” police said in the release.
As the investigation continues, police are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to do so by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865, or by calling Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
Investigators would also like to speak with anyone who has dashcam footage from the Vaughan Mills parking lot at the time of the shooting.
Courtney-Ashton Brooks, 23, of Brampton, is charged with first-degree murder.
Donte Morris Taylor, 22, also of Brampton, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
