Munteanu Ranked 16th in Final ITA Regional Rankings – James Madison University Athletics

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison sophomore Daria Munteanu completed the 2023-24 women’s tennis season as the 16th-ranked singles competitor in the ITA Atlantic Region, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rolled out its end-of-year rankings.
 
Competing primarily at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, Munteanu was voted Second Team All-Sun Belt in singles after posting a 17-13 singles record, including a 12-7 mark in dual-match play. On court one alone, she finished with a 6-4 record.
 
Munteanu, a native of Iasi, Romania, put together a six-match singles win streak during the spring season, with five of those victories coming in Sun Belt play.
 
Additionally on the doubles side, she compiled a 14-13 record with an 8-9 dual mark.
 
This is the sixth consecutive season that JMU has produced a regionally ranked student-athlete in a year that the ITA posts rankings. JMU has had at least one singles player honored each year since 2018, excluding 2020 when the rankings were canceled.
