Mr Fisk will have surgery for condylar fracture

Mr Fisk, winner of Monday’s Grade 2 Hollywood Gold Cup, was expected to have surgery Tuesday for a condylar fracture he sustained in the race.

Trainer Bob Baffert posted on X that the 4-year-old Arrogate colt was resting comfortably in his stall and that his prognosis was excellent.

As the slight favorite, Mr Fisk won the Hollywood Gold Cup by 2 1/4 lengths overstablemate Reincarnate, giving Baffert his record 10th win in the race. Afterward, jockey Kazushi Kimura said he felt something slightly off with Mr Fisk when he was being pulled up. He was taken by equine ambulance back to his barn for further evaluation.

The Hollywood Gold Cup was Mr Fisk’s third graded-stakes victory. He won the Californian (G3) in April and the Native Diver (G3) in November. The Sunny Brook stables homebred has an overall record of 11: 5-2-0 and earnings of $369,700.
