PRINCE GEORGE— The ALS Society of British Columbia will be hosting their signature fundraising event this Sunday, June 23 at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park. Organizers say the Move to Cure ALS event is more than a fundraiser but a celebration of hope, a tribute to those who have lost their lives from the fatal disease, and a show of support for people currently battling ALS.

Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting individuals living with ALS, essential patient services programs, and ALS research through the PROJECT HOPE initiative. The PROJECT HOPE initiative is working to establish an ALS Centre at the University of British Columbia’s Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health.

“After having teammates and friends pass away from the deadly effects of ALS, I was moved to lend a hand of support, says Wally Buono, a spokesperson for Move to Cure ALS. “As we all gather to beat ALS by participating or supporting financially Move to Cure ALS, we all work together to find a cure. Thank you for doing your part.”

This year marks the twenty-first anniversary of Move to Cure ALS happing in Prince George. Last year organizers welcome 140 participants raising $18,800. This year the fundraising goal is $20,00.
