Most anticipated smartphones from Apple, Google, Samsung, and more launching in the second half of 2024

We’re just two months away from Apple’s annual iPhone launch event, scheduled for the first half of September. This year, the spotlight is on the anticipated iPhone 16 series, rumoured to feature four models: a 6.1-inch iPhone 16, a 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus, a 6.3-inch iPhone 16 Pro, and the largest-ever 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max.

All four models are expected to come with significant hardware and software upgrades, running iOS 18. The Pro variants will also introduce Apple Intelligence, integrating on-device and private-cloud backed generative AI technologies, setting a new standard in smartphone capabilities.

Google’s next-generation Pixel flagships are just around the corner, with the upcoming Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro rumoured to be powered by the Tensor G4 processor. Unlike previous years, Google did not unveil these devices at I/O 2024, but numerous leaks have provided insights into what to expect from the 9th-generation Pixel smartphones.

Enhanced performance, improved cameras, and a refreshed design are among the anticipated features in the upcoming “Made by Google” phones.

Galaxy Z Flip6, Z Fold6

Samsung is set to unveil its next foldables in July, likely named the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6, representing both flip and foldable designs. These devices are expected to feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and ship with OneUI 6.1, integrating a range of Galaxy AI capabilities.

Anticipated to be thinner, lighter, and more durable than their predecessors, these smartphones are also poised to offer enhanced computing power. However, with competition intensifying, Samsung must deliver an exceptional product to maintain its leadership in the foldable market.

Motorola has already launched excellent budget, mid-tier, and high-end smartphones in the first half of 2024. In the second half, the company is likely to introduce its flip-style foldables––Razr and Razr+ –– expected to be much cheaper than Samsung’s foldable offerings.

The Razr+ is anticipated to feature a large cover display and a premium design, potentially powered by a Snapdragon 7 series chip. Meanwhile, the 2024 edition of the Razr will be positioned as an even more budget-friendly foldable, also likely equipped with a Snapdragon 7 series processor and expected to be priced around Rs 50,000.

The Nothing Phone (3) is set to make its debut in the second half of 2024, promising an array of intriguing features. Confirmed to include AI capabilities and powered by a Snapdragon 8 series chip, it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Phone (2), as a flagship device with a premium design and top-tier hardware.

Expected to excel in photography, the Nothing Phone (3) is expected to boast the company’s best camera setup yet, featuring a triple camera system with dedicated ultra-wide angle and telephoto lenses.

These are just a glimpse of the smartphones expected to launch in the latter half of 2024. More brands are poised to introduce their devices in the coming months, including the debut of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Mediatek Dimensity 8400 SoC-powered Android flagships.
