Monday works: 23 drills include Grade 1 winners Muth, Du Jour

Muth returned to the work tab Monday for the first time since he was scratched from the Preakness Stakes because of a fever. The Bob Baffert trainee worked four furlongs in 47.8 seconds at Santa Anita. A son of Good Magic, Muth has won two Grade 1 races in his career, the 2023 American Pharoah Stakes and the 2024 Arkansas Derby.

Baffert also worked his Grade 1-winning turf horse Du Jour. The 6-year-old Temple City gelding drilled four furlongs in 49.6 seconds over the all-weather training track at Santa Anita. Most recently third behind Johannes in the Shoemaker Mile (G1) on May 27, Du Jour broke through at the top level two starts back when he won the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1).
