MJ Daniels funeral service announced for Southern Miss football player who was killed

The funeral for Southern Miss football player MJ Daniels will be Saturday, June 22, according to his obituary on Moments Funeral Home‘s website.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the George County gymnasium, Daniels’ former high school. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the burial after at Merrill Cemetery.

Southern Miss football players will be honorary pallbearers, including teammate Elijah Sabbatini.

A memorial balloon release is being held Friday at 6 p.m. at the George County football stadium.

Daniels, a 21-year-old from Lucedale, Mississippi, died Tuesday after being shot in Hattiesburg. Three suspects were arrested and charged Friday with capital murder.

Daniels is survived by parents Marcus Leon Daniels Sr. and Adrian T. Jackson and eight younger siblings: Taleah, Tenauri, Major and Myles Daniels, India, Treonte and DJ Jackson and Braden Brown.
