Missouri State men’s basketball adds Iago Stanback to Cuonzo Martin’s roster

Cuonzo Martin doesn’t appear to be done adding players to his first Missouri State men’s basketball roster since returning as the Bears’ head coach.

In an Instagram post showing freshmen moving into their dorms on campus, the Missouri State men’s basketball team posted a photo of Iago Stanback, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Florida. The university had yet to announce Stanback’s signing as of Friday night.

Stanback is coming off a season of prep ball at Florida Coastal Prep. He played high school basketball at Palmetto Ridge in Naples, Florida, where he averaged 20.3 points and was a 35% shooter from deep as a senior.

Stanback also played for Portugal, his home country, in the FIBA U18 European Championships last summer. He played 76 total minutes, accounting for 15 total points.

Reporting on his recruitment by other programs is scarce.

It’s unclear whether Stanback will be rostered as a scholarship player. With its recent additions, Missouri State appeared to have filled its 13 scholarships, although it can carry more during the summer. It’s also possible the Bears’ new coaching staff shifted a player from its previous roster to a walk-on position.
