Minot youths teeing off at indoor golf area
Ty Murphy, 13, and his mother, Lauren Murphy, enjoy golfing together as a family as often as they can. On any given week, they might be found as many as three times teeing off together and getting a round of golf in. On rainy days they enjoy getting some swings in at The Bunker, an indoor golf area specifically built for youth.
They can practice putting with a projector-augmented green, run full golf courses, or visit a driving range in the simulator stations.
Laila and Lauryn Christenson, 15 and 12, respectively, have both been golfing since they were 5 years old. They enjoy golfing together as sisters every day they can. Laila Christenson said golf is a great way to meet new people and network, and Lauryn Christenson said she really enjoys the sport. Both would like to golf their way through college and plan on golfing “as long as they can.”
Ty Murphy is just starting out his golfing career and very much enjoys getting fresh air and spending time with his family.
Lauren Murphy also points out that golfing is a great way to get some steps in and get some sun.
When asked his favorite part of golfing, Ty Murphy said it’s “the excitement of hitting a really good shot.”
Lauren Murphy encourages families to get into golf, and said if they aren’t sure where to start “just ask for help.”
