Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure gave an update on Hodgson landslide : My Cariboo Now
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure was at the Williams Lake Gibraltar Room giving the community an update on the Hodgson landslide.
Yesterday, they gave information surrounding the projects completed to this point, such as surface water drainage and an investigation involving 30 drill holes across the slide.
Director of Cariboo Roads Recovery Program, Greg Bruce shares the next steps forward.
“We’re sharing with the community that again, we’re going to be tackling the next phase of surface water management.” says Bruce.
“So last year’s ditching program went up Dog Creek Road, we’re going to extend that and then up into the Roberts Drive neighbourhood, and then take it up a little higher, and then this year we’re going to open up more of that drainage just to feed into that.”
Bruce adds that they will be creating a defined channel, moving the water from the bottom end of the funnel down Highway 20, rather than the side of Hodgson Road, among other plans.
A big part of the project is the communication with the community, whether it’s questions or feedback and even hearing stories that help the project.
Bruce encourages community members to ask questions or give comments to their email [email protected] or by phone at 250-299-1494.
There’s no timeline as to when the project will be completed.
More information can be found on the Province’s website, with the latest pubic information session to be released in the coming days.
