Michigan football lands class of 2025 receiver from Louisiana
Michigan’s football program has added another offensive weapon to its 2025 recruiting class.
Destrehan (La.) three-star receiver Phillip Wright announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Saturday, becoming the 16th verbal pledge for Sherrone Moore’s program this cycle. The 5-foot-11, 160-pounder chose Michigan over 14 other reported offers, including finalists Georgia and LSU.
He is ranked as the No. 540 overall prospect nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite system.
The addition of Wright gives the Wolverines two receivers and three players from Louisiana this cycle. Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw four-star Jacob Washington, the teammate of three-star running back commit Jasper Parker, is 6-foot-3 and a traditional outside receiver, while Wright projects to play the slot.
Wright, a track standout whose speed is his No. 1 asset, took visits to all three of his finalists last month, including Michigan on June 14. The Wolverines offered Wright last November.
Michigan’s interest in receivers in Louisiana is no surprise given that position coach Ron Bellamy is a native of the state. The Wolverines have landed 10 of their 16 commits this cycle since June. Their class ranked No. 12 in the country entering Saturday.
