Mewhiney high school football all-star game a hit for seniors

LEOMINSTER, Mass. — For high school seniors who just graduated, Wednesday night’s Joseph Mewhiney Central Mass All-Star Classic football game at Doyle Field in Leominster was a chance to put on the helmet and shoulder pads one last time.

District 2 defeated District 3 21-7 behind a great effort from Uxbridge QB Kellen LaChapelle, who was named the game’s MVP. District 3 was made up of Mid Wach teams and District 2 was made up of players from teams in the SWCL, Colonial League, Inter-High, Dual Valley Conference, St. John’s, St. Bernard’s and St. Paul.

LaChapelle was his usual elusive self, with some great scrambles and accurate throws in leading his team to victory. Oxford’s Robbie Fisher came up with a huge interception at the goal line in the second half.
