Men’s Tennis Announcers 2023-24 Team Awards – University of Dayton Athletics

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men’s tennis team and head coach Ryan Meyer have announced the 2023-24 men’s tennis team award winners.
 
Fifth-year Connor Bruce and freshman Kyle McNally were named team Co-Most Valuable Player, while junior Davis Phillips and freshman Eric Suk were named Co-Most Improved. Fifth-year Matt DeMarco earned the team’s Mental Attitude Award, and senior Erik Eliasson was the 2024 Flyer Award winner.
 
Bruce, who earned his fourth All-Atlantic 10 First Team honor as well as his third A-10 All-Academic Team nod, won 28 singles matches in total and 17 in dual play. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native also added 21 wins in doubles.
 
McNally was tabbed the A-10 Rookie of the Year winner after winning 25 singles matches, tying the Dayton single-season record for a freshman. The Algonquin, Ill. native was an All-Atlantic 10 First Team honoree and won the league’s Rookie of the Week award four times.
 
Phillips, a native of Hilton Head, S.C., worked his way into the starting lineup by season’s end and finished the campaign with a 4-1 singles record. Both of his matches at the A-10 Championship went unfinished.
 
Suk was a major contributor to the doubles lineup in his rookie campaign, rattling off 12 total victories including 10 in dual play. The Macon, Ga. native also had a pair of wins in singles.
 
DeMarco battled to win 12 matches in both singles and doubles this season, earning his second career All-Atlantic 10 First Team honor.
 
Eliasson won eight singles matches in his final season as a Flyer, playing as high as No. 2 in the lineup. The Sweden native also added three wins on the doubles side.
 
Dayton finished the 2023-24 campaign with an overall record of 19-9, advancing to the Atlantic 10 Championship Match for the third consecutive season.
