Men’s golf inks two transfers – Campbell University

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Malik Dao and Logan Graf have signed athletics grants-in-aid with Campbell University, head men’s golf coach John Crooks announced.  Natives of Canada and Division I transfers, Dao and Graf join incoming freshman Benjamin Killingstad of Norway in the 2024 recruiting class.

Dao hails from Notre-Dame-de’I’ll-Perrot, Quebec and is a transfer from Eastern Kentucky.  A member of the Canadian National and Quebec Provincial teams, he represented EKU in the last two ASUN Championships.

The 2020 Quebec Amateur Champion, Dao also won the 2019 Quebec Junior Boys Match Play and Future Links Amateur Championships.  He was runner-up in the 2021 Las Vegas Evian Senior Showcase and 2022 Quebec Amateur Championship.  A rising junior, Dao finished 18th in the 2022 Canada Summer Games and participated in the 2022 North and South Junior Amateur and Orlando International Amateur.

A resident of Sylvan Lakes, Alberta, Graf joins the Camel program from Eastern Michigan.  The 2024 Alberta Fourball Champion, Graf won the 2022 Alberta Boys and Edmonton Maple Leaf Future Stars Invitational championships.  He is a Team Alberta Provincial team member who finished fourth in the 2022 Canada Summer Games, where he set a tournament record for lowest single round (65).

He competed in the 2022 and 2023 Canadian Amateur championships and the ’23 Pacific Northwest Amateur after finishing as runner-up in the 2021 Alberta Golf Junior Championship.  Graf played in all 12 tournaments for Eastern Michigan during his 2022-23 freshman campaign.  He also participated in the 2022 PGA Tour Canada ATB Classic.

“Our goal is to build the finest men’s golf team in the Coastal Athletic Association,” said Crooks, who is entering his 35th season as head coach of the Camels.  “To do so, we need outstanding athletes who love to compete.  We are so pleased to add three outstanding student-athletes to our men’s team.  Each of these men have won major tournaments and experienced international competition.  Benjamin, Logan and Malik have excelled in the classroom and are competitive wherever they go.  I am so excited about our future.”

Dao, Graf and Killingstad join a Fighting Camel program that just completed its first year of competition in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) and has participated in seven of the last eight NCAA Regional championships.  Under Crooks’ guidance, the Campbell men and women have combined to reach NCAA postseason competition in 15-straight seasons.
