Men’s golf competes at national championship – Brock University Athletics

Over Monday, June 3 to Thursday, June 6, the Brock Badgers men’s golf team travelled to the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club in Sudbury, Ont for the 2024 Canadian University/College Championship presented by BDO.

“The team enjoyed themselves out there,” said head coach Travis Glass. “For most of them, this was their first tournament of the 2024 season and their first national championship.”

The tournament hosted by Golf Canada saw 19 university/college teams compete for the first three days of competition before the field was cut to just 9 teams for the final round on Day 4.

On Day 1, the Badgers placed 12th, shooting a total of +28 (316), with Tate Smith and Robbie Pemberton both shooting a team-high +5, respectively.

“We shook some rust off in the first round and played better as the days went on,” Glass noted.

The second round saw Brock register a team score of +29 (317), leading to a combined two-day score of +57 (633), which put them in 17th place. Pemberton and McKeiver both shot +6 while Matthew Lundy was not far behind with a +7.

Day 3 was the final day of play for the Badgers as they did not make the cut line. Pemberton finished off a strong tournament with a Brock-best individual round score of 0 during the third round.

Pemberton had a team-best three-day total of +11 (227). Smith shot a +20 (236) and McKeiver registered a score of +27 (243). Rounding out the performances for Brock were Lundy with a + 34 (250) and Noah Rogers with a +35 (251).

“The team definitely feels like they belong here, and we look forward to being back and playing well during the 2024 season,” said Glass.
