Men’s Basketball Home-and-Home Series with UW Confirmed
The newly controversial Apple Cup rivalry will live on for the two hoops programs, as our Washington State Cougars have finalized an agreement to begin a home-and-home series with Washington next season, once again bringing the two teams head to head for at least the next two seasons.
Next season’s matchup will take place on December 18th at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, with a return game to be scheduled in Beasley Coliseum during the 2025 – 2026 season.
Our Cougs have performed well against UW in recent years, totaling 7 – 3 over the Huskies in the last 10 matchups. Additionally, out of the last handful of games played in Seattle since early 2020, the good guys brought the victory home to Pullman 4 out of 5 times— With only one close loss in Seattle taking place during the 2021 – 2022 season. I don’t know about you, but I like our chances for another sweet victory in Hec Ed next season.
Both programs will come in at the beginning of a new era, as David Riley’s squad will be facing newly hired UW coach Danny Sprinkle and his Husky team.
This is the first time in over six decades years that Wazzu will battle the Huskies as a non-conference opponent, but despite the change, something tells me the heat between these two teams will be as intense as ever in the future matchups.
In recent years, the opportunity to compete against UW has shown to be an impactful experience for WSU players hailing from the Seattle area, and I’m looking forward to continuing to see our guys bring their best against their long-time rivals. Go Cougs!
