Meet the 2024 Commercial Appeal All-Metro girls and boys tennis teams

Here’s The Commercial Appeal’s All-Metro girls and boys tennis teams for the 2024 season.

BOYS

Sathvik Nath

Tennis Player of the Year

Lausanne | Jr.

Why chosen: Nath was the No. 1 seed coming out of the Division II-A West Region and advanced to the state title match, losing to Jackson Christian’s Jack Veazey, 6-0, 6-2.

Andrew Kuhlo

MUS | Sr.

Why chosen: Kuhlo joined Tol Thomas to win the Division II-AA West Region doubles title and survived until the state tournament semifinals, before dropping a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 decision to MBA’s Martin Grier and Daniel Torre.

Ansh Sampat

Collierville | Sr.

Why chosen: Sampat qualified for the Class AA state tournament out of Region 8, losing in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Rich LaLance (Siegel), 6-1, 6-3.

Sam Schroerlucke

MUS | Jr.

Why chosen: Schroerlucke, the top seed from the Division II-AA West Region tournament, fell in the state quarterfinals to McCallie’s Gabe Getz, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 7-5.

Tol Thomas

MUS | Sr.

Why chosen: Thomas formed one half of the Division II-AA West Region champion doubles team with Andrew Kuhlo and went the distance in the state semis, losing to MBA, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.

Gabe Ungab

MUS | Jr.

Why chosen: Ungab won his Division II-AA first-round match against MBA’s Billy Rennhoff (6-3, 6-1) before falling to eventual champion Juozas Cioladas (McCallie) in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-1.

GIRLS

Melanie Woodbury

Tennis Player of the Year

Hutchison | Sr.

Why chosen: Woodbury, a Tufts University signee, captured the Division II-AA West Region’s top seed and won twice at the state tournament, before losing to Knoxville Catholic’s Lillie Murphy, 6-4, 6-3.

Danial Blalack

Covington | Sr.

Why chosen: Blalack secured the top singles berth out of Region 8 and made her way to Murfreesboro for the Class A state tournament. She lost to Summertown’s Libby Konig in the quarterfinals.

Anna-Caroline Domas

Hutchison | Jr.

Why chosen: Domas qualified for the Division II-AA state tournament with Elizabeth Dunavant, but fell in the quarterfinals to GPS, 7-6(4), 6-3. She won her team tournament semifinal singles match against Knoxville Catholic.

Noor Sandhu

Lausanne | Fr.

Why chosen: Sandhu, who won the Division II-A West Region singles title, advanced to the state semifinals and lost 6-1, 6-1 to CAK’s Allie Faulkner.

Priti Sinha

Collierville | So.

Why chosen: Sinha, who qualified for the Class AA state doubles tournament with Anvi Sampat, won her singles match in the team tournament over an opponent from Cookeville, 6-2, 6-3.

Alessandra Yong

Lausanne | Jr.

Why chosen: Yong united with Avi Goorha to advance to the Division II-A state semifinals, and won both a singles and doubles match in the team tournament to help the Lynx defeat USJ for the championship, 4-2.
