Marshawn Lynch, DK Metcalf’s dad are College Football Hall of Fame finalists

Legendary Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, but it’s not the only HOF we could see him in very soon.

Earlier this month, the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame released the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. There are nearly 80 players from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) up for potential selection, as well as an additional 101 from outside the FBS.

Marshawn Lynch has been nominated for the fourth year in a row, and we’ve already written about Lynch before. The first-time nominee of note is former Ole Miss offensive lineman Terrence Metcalf. Does that name ring a bell? He’s the father of current Seahawks star receiver DK Metcalf.

Here’s the bio entry:

Terrence Metcalf, Mississippi-Offensive Lineman-2001 consensus First Team All-American and two-time First Team All-SEC performer…Named the SEC’s Most Valuable Lineman by the Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club (2001)…Leader of Ole Miss unit that allowed the fewest sacks in the conference his final two seasons.

Metcalf would play seven seasons with the Chicago Bears from 2002 until 2008. One of his playoff wins came against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Round back in 2007.

Both Lynch and Metcalf are in the Hall of Fame of their respective schools, and they’re both in line for potentially making it to the national college HOF. Odds are not particularly high that Lynch will be a first-ballot Pro Football HOFer, but I won’t definitively rule anything out.

Former Seahawks kicker Sebastian Janikowski, running back Fred Jackson, wide receiver/special teams returner Peter Warrick, and former linebackers coach and defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr are also on the ballot.

The Class of 2025 will be announced early next year.
