Man Utd target £60m striker transfer after brutal Erik ten Hag verdict
Manchester United endured a rotten season in 2023/24 and planning already appears to be underway for next season regardless of whether Erik ten Hag will be in charge or not
Manchester United have endured a tricky 12 months having hit new lows under Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils finished in their lowest-ever Premier League position under the Dutchman – something that saw his position at Old Trafford called into question. He gave himself some hope with the FA Cup win at Wembley but a decision still needs to be made.
Once that happens, work could potentially start on this summer’s transfer business. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already promised investment into the squad this summer.
Stars have been linked with moves to Old Trafford ahead of next season, while a host of Red Devils stars could be sold. Take a look at all of the latest headlines from Man United here:
Man Utd target Wolves star
Manchester United are targeting a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha in an effort to bolster their frontline this summer. Red Devils scouts consistently tracked him last term as he shone for the Midlands side.
The 25-year-old netted 14 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions for Wolves last term. Cunha, a former Atletico Madrid star, is rated at £60m and has three years left to run on his contract at Molineux.
While Wolves are not keen on cashing in on him this summer, it is believed that Man United would be willing to double his wage to tempt him to Old Trafford. Away from Cunha, the Red Devils are also interested in West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus.

Ten Hag gives transfer verdict
While his transfer list is already being compiled, Man United boss Erik ten hag has refused to take blame for the club’s recent expensive failures. He said: “The prices paid for players are indeed very high – but I am not responsible for that.
“The club did all the negotiations, including with very good potential players who didn’t come in the end. So it is all a bit more nuanced than the picture that is being painted that the purchase policy is disastrous. It’s all negative, but despite all the problems, the foundation at the club has grown stronger.
“That may not all be visible to the outside world now, but everyone internally will make that analysis.”
Van Dijk makes brutal comment
On the topic of transfer failures, Virgil van Dijk has claimed he will “never” play for Man United after spurning him in the past. The Red Devils signed Victor Lindelof ahead of the Liverpool captain during his time at Southampton.
Asked if he would prefer to play for fierce rivals Man United or Everton, the Dutchman replied: “Haha, I’m not even going to answer that question because it would never happen.”
Man United of course invested heavily in their defence shortly after rejecting Van Dijk with the £80m acquisition of Harry Maguire.
