Male dies after being stabbed in altercation at Jane subway station

A male has died after being stabbed during an altercation at Jane subway station.

Police were called to the station near the bus bay just before 6 p.m.

According to Det. Sgt. Jason Davis, the altercation began on a bus that was arriving at Jane station and spilled into the bus bay where the male victim was stabbed.

He was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead. Next of kin has not yet been notified so the identity of the victim has been withheld.

Det. Sgt. Davis said they are looking for a male and female suspect who were seen fleeing the scene westbound on Bloor Street.

No suspect descriptions are available at this time.

Det. Sgt. Davis said it’s too early in the investigation to determine if the suspects and victim were known to each other.

TTC CEO Rick Leary said they are shocked and saddened to learn about the fatal stabbing at Jane and adds the TTC will assist police in whatever ways they can during the investigation.

TTC trains are currently not stopping at Jane subway station due to the investigation. Buses that serve Jane are on diverting to Old Mill and Runnymede station.
