Luis and Fidler Honored on the Men’s Tennis All-Liberty League Teams – Ithaca College Athletics
TROY, N.Y. – As announced by the Liberty League conference office on Tuesday, May 21, the Ithaca College men’s tennis program had a pair of student-athletes earn All-Liberty League postseason honors. Senior Nicolas Luis was named First Team All-Liberty League and first year Gijs Fidler collected Second Team All-League recognition, both selections were for singles competition.
Tabbed as an All-Liberty League selection for the third-straight season, Nicolas Luis landed on the First Team for the first-time in his collegiate career. He was an Honorable Mention selection in 2021-22 and earned a spot on the Second Team during his junior season, Luis put together his best season yet. Luis once again competed in the top singles flight for the Bombers where he posted a 10-7 record including going 5-3 during conference play. The senior collected over 37 wins in singles through the course of his four-year career at Ithaca.
Fidler was named All-Liberty League Second Team after making an immediate impact for the Bombers. He stepped into the No. 2 slot in singles play and posted 10-6 overall record including a 5-2 record during Liberty League action. Fidler ended the season hot as he won six of his final nine matches.
Ithaca College concluded the season with an overall record of 7-12 and a conference record of 3-5 as the team qualified for the Liberty League Championship tournament for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
