Golf Digest reported on the top-tier courses in Texas. 

Here are 10 of those courses you can visit.

Whispering Pines

  • Location: Trinity
  • About the course: The course features a challenging yet enjoyable layout, with 18 holes spanning approximately 7,480 yards from the championship tees. It is known for its pristine conditions, strategic design, and beautiful natural surroundings, including views of Lake Livingston.

Dallas National Golf Club

  • Location: Dallas
  • About the course: Dallas National Golf Club is located in the Oak Cliff area. It offers a secluded setting with rolling hills and scenic views, providing a country club experience within the city limits. The course was designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. 

BlueJack National

  • Location: Montgomery
  • About the course: According to Paper City, Bluejack National is home to the first Tiger Woods-designed golf course in the United States. The course officially opened in 2015 and quickly gained a reputation for its high-quality design and amenities. The course is known for its rolling hills, mature pine trees and natural water features. It spans approximately 7,552 yards from the championship tees and has a par of 72. The design emphasizes playability and enjoyment for golfers of all skill levels.

Colonial Country Club

  • Location: Fort Worth
  • About the course: Colonial Country Club was established in 1936 by Marvin Leonard, a businessman and golf enthusiast who wanted to bring championship-level golf to Fort Worth. The course is home to the Charles Schwab Challenge, formerly known as the Colonial National Invitation and the Dean & DeLuca Invitational. This PGA Tour event has been held annually since 1946, making it one of the longest-running events on the tour.

  • About the course: The course was designed by golf course architect Bobby Weed, known for creating courses that blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings. It opened in 2001 and has since been recognized as one of the premier golf destinations in Texas. 

The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch

  • Location: Boerne
  • About the course: The centerpiece of the Clubs of Cordillera Ranch is its Jack Nicklaus signature Golf Course. The 7,464-yard, par-72 course is known for its challenging design, stunning views and pristine condition. It has been ranked among the top courses in Texas and features strategic bunkering, elevation changes and water hazards.

The Club at Carlton Woods Nicklaus Course

  • Location: The Woodlands
  • About the course: Also designed by Nicklaus, the course opened in 2001 and has since become a centerpiece of the Carlton Woods community, known for its challenging layout and beautiful setting.

Escondido Golf & Lake Club

  • Location: Horseshoe Bay
