NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha on Monday celebrated the Indian cricket team’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, lauding the team’s inspiring performance and its impact on the nation’s youth and sportspersons.
Speaker Om Birla congratulated skipper Rohit Sharma and the team, highlighting the significance of their triumph.
“India’s youngsters and sportspersons will derive inspiration from this victory,” said Birla as he praised the team’s outstanding achievement.
India secured the T20 World Cup after a 17-year gap, defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final on June 29. This victory marks India’s second T20 World Cup title, with the first being in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
