LMU’s WCC Opponents Named for 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Season – Loyola Marymount University Athletics

LOS ANGELES – The West Coast Conference has revealed the matchups for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season. The WCC will play an 18-game schedule in conference, with the league expanding to 11 teams for the next two years.

The Lions will play Oregon State at Gersten Pavilion for the first time since the NCAA Tournament season of 1988-89. Hank Gathers scored 34 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in that game against Gary Payton and the Beavers.

LMU will make the program’s first trip to The Palouse this season to play Washington State this season in Pullman. Chris Nikchevich dished out a then-school record 17 assists in a win over the Cougars in 1986.

The Cougars are coming off a second round NCAA Tournament run and the Beavers made a trip to the Elite Eight as recently as 2021.

The remaining 16 games of the league play will be split with home and away games against the remaining eight WCC teams. The Lions will host and travel to Gonzaga, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary’s, San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Clara.

Head Coach Stan Johnson has made key hires to his staff including Lorenzo Romar and Louis Wilson who have combined for over 55 years as college basketball coaches. As a head coach, Coach Romar has had 18 players taken in the NBA Draft. As either a head coach or an assistant, Romar has worked with 27 future NBA Draft picks. Romar’s 467 wins rank inside the top-100 all-time for most career coaching wins by a head coach at the Division I level.

All dates, times, broadcast, and ticket information will be available at a later time.
