LIV Golf Houston Leaderboard: Cleeks GC takes lead after standout Round 1

LIV Golf starts the second half of its 2024 schedule this weekend at its inaugural event at the Golf Club of Houston. Thirteen teams are competing through Sunday for a $25 million purse.

On Day 1, Cleeks GC closed out the round strong to finish Round 1 at 17-under. Martin Kaymer, Adrian Merok, and Kalle Samooja combined for nine birdies on the back nine to take a three-stroke lead over Torque GC. Kaymer and Meronk each shot a 7-under-65 to tie for the best score of the day.

Torque GC finished the first round two strokes clear ahead of a four-way tie for third place. Carlos Ortiz led the way with a 6-under-66 and captain Joaquin Niemann finished with a 5-under-67.
