Leading by example as your next sheriff
Tama County Community,
My name is Lucas Dvorak and I am running to be the next Tama County Sheriff. During this campaign, I have learned a lot about myself. One thing being is I am not a politician. I was told by a retired coworker that I struggle to talk about myself. My response was I believe my work ethic speaks for itself.
I grew up in Tama County and spent a lot of time working on my uncle’s dairy farm when I was young. I quickly learned the meaning of hard work. That work ethic has carried with me throughout my life.
When I started working in Law Enforcement I saw Sheriff Kucera doing his job as a “working sheriff” and leading by example. Tama County has been lucky to have a sheriff like Sheriff Kucera, and I hope to continue that.
I have spent a majority of my career as a Detective working investigations and have had the opportunity to work with numerous agencies over the years. This has provided me with a great opportunity to build on my leadership skills. I am currently on the Iowa Narcotics Officers Association (INOA) executive board. INOA helps provide free training to Law Enforcement Officers across the state as well as raises money for injured officers or families of fallen officers in the state of Iowa.
I believe we all need to be involved in our communities both personally and professionally. My work enables me to be involved in the community, because I teach violent critical incident training to our local schools. I also present about the dangers of narcotics for local EMS and schools.
When I am not working I coach football and wrestling and have done so for about 7 years. I also serve on the Tama County Fair Board. By taking part in these activities, it helps ensure our children are able to participate in sports and 4H.
Our children’s safety and future is very important to me which is why as Sheriff I would like to secure grant funding to provide a School Resource Officer to the two schools Tama County Sheriff’s Office covers. I am also currently working on a board to use available funding to create a position in Tama County to help with mental health/drug addiction which would work to provide immediate help to those in need.
I am the candidate that has been very open about defending our constitution including your second amendment right. As you look across the country it’s evident our constitution and our second amendment right is being attacked. I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER to stand up to stop federal overreach and protect your rights.
I believe I have shown throughout my career my leadership, dedication, and work ethic both to my job and community. I haven’t changed my approach during my campaign as I think I have exhibited the traits to be your next Sheriff throughout the last 15 years.
I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking with more of the Tama County community. I am always open to listen and value the community’s opinion. I appreciate everyone’s support throughout this campaign.
Remember on June 4th your voice matters so please exercise your right to vote.
