Lamine Yamal issues great response after Spain branded ‘team of kids’ ahead of Germany clash

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has hit back at criticism of the Spain team ahead of Friday’s quarter-final with Germany at Euro 2024.

Former Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has taken aim at La Roja calling them “small and inexperienced” and like a “team of kids” due to the presence of Yamal and Nico Williams.

The quotes were put to Yamal ahead of the match in Germany and he said they would serve only to motivate the Spain squad for the match.

“It’s his opinion, what’s he going to say? He’s German,” he told La Sexta “It’s an attempt to destabilise us. We don’t listen to anyone, we will show what we are on the pitch.

“More than help Germany, it helps Spain, but the best thing is to show it on Friday. Let’s see if we are small and innocent.”

Spain have been the best team at Euro 2024 so far, and the only one with a 100% record, but face a tough test against the tournament hosts who have also looked good and will be eager for success on home soil.
