Whether you’re a hacker, slicer, hooker or even experienced golfer, the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce 15th annual Memorial Golf Classic is ideal to get your swing back and have a great time at the same time.
The fun and challenging event takes place on Friday, June 14 at Cottonwood Golf Course. There’s a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m., but there are events to take part in before the official tee-off.
“This highly anticipated event promises a day of fun-filled golfing activities, offering the opportunity for golfers of all skill levels to showcase their talents,” said Roberta Bowman, executive director of the local Chamber.
The past three tournaments have honoured locals who have died for their contributions to the Ladysmith and area community.
“This year is no different,” said Bowman, “The 15th will be the third memorial tournament, this year honoring the late Gordon Reid.”
“Reid’s legacy is one of remarkable community service and dedication. His extensive volunteer work, spanning organizations like Ladysmith Resources Centre, Ladysmith Show & Shine, Ladysmith Days, Citizens on Patrol and Festival of Lights showcases a deep commitment to making a positive impact on Ladysmith and beyond.”
“The tournament has become a cherished tradition within the community, drawing participants and spectators alike to celebrate the spirit of competition and camaraderie.” Bowman said. “We are grateful to our sponsors, including the Ladysmith & District Credit Union, whose generous support has made this event possible.”
According to a statement from the Chamber, there are still opportunities for those interested in participating or sponsoring in the event. The chamber’s website, www.ladysmithcofc.com has more information or contact the Chamber at 250-245-2112 or email admin@ladysmithcofc.com.
“Join us for a day of exceptional golf, community spirit, and charitable giving at the Chamber’s 15th Annual Memorial Golf Classic,” Bowman said. “Whether you’re a golfer looking to compete, or a spectator eager to enjoy the sport, this event promises something for everyone.”
