A motorcyclist struck on Highway 97 and Commonwealth Road was rushed to the hospital Sunday afternoon with serious injuries, according to police.
Kelowna RCMP say they are investigating the collision that took place at approximately 2:15 p.m., involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
The portion of the highway has reopened with alternating traffic in both directions.
“The driver of the SUV is currently under investigation for a criminal offence; no other details will be released at this time,” said Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Michael Gauthier.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has dash camera video is asked to phone the RCMP and reference police file number 2024-39634.

DriveBC confirms Highway 97 is closed in both directions at Commonwealth Rd. after a vehicle incident.
Drivers are being told to expect major delays due to congestion.

Highway 97 and Commonwealth Road are closed following a crash involving a motorcyclist Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened just after 2 p.m. heading towards Lake Country.
The condition of the biker remains unknown.
Kelowna RCMP and the Kelowna Fire Department remain at the scene.
A detour is available southbound at Glenmore Rd, northbound via John Hindle Drive onto Glenmore Rd.
A motorist at the scene tells Castanet one individual was taken away in a police car following the incident.
Castanet has requested more information from the Kelowna RCMP.

Traffic is halted along Highway 97 and Commonwealth Road after a motorcyclist was struck just after 2:10 p.m.
A motorist driving by the area says the incident happened along the highway heading to Lake Country.
“Traffic is building up going towards Lake Country. A motorcyclist is down and pretty hurt. The traffic is backed up and an ambulance just went by.”
The cause of the crash and the injuries of the motorcyclist are unknown at this time.
