Kedar Jadhav announces retirement from all forms of cricket, mimics Dhoni’s style
Kedar Jadhav has announced his retirement from all forms of the game, took inspiration of MS Dhoni in revealing the decision on social media on Monday. Jadhav represented India in 73 ODIs and 9 T20Is between 2014 and 2020, shared a Dhoni-styled retirement message on Instagram.
He posted, “Thank you all for your love and support throughout my Career from 1500 hrs. Consider me retired from all forms of cricket.”
Jadhav last featured for the Men In Blue in an ODI against New Zealand in Auckland. He made his debut for the national team in a match captained by Virat Kohli in Ranchi against Sri Lanka. A few months later, Jadhav scored his maiden ODI century against Zimbabwe, finishing his career with 1389 runs at an impressive average of 42.09, including six half-centuries and two centuries. Jadhav’s retirement comes just two days after fellow Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik also announced his retirement from the sport.
Jadhav’s most impressive international innings came when he scored 120 runs off just 76 balls to help India chase down a mammoth 351-run target against England in Pune. Alongside Kohli’s scintillating century, their 200-run partnership bought India back in the game and Jadhav won the Player-of-the-Match award. Although he had a relatively quiet World Cup 2019 campaign, scoring just 80 runs in five innings, his crucial 52 against West Indies helped India towards victory.
Jadhav burst onto the scene during the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy, emerging as the season’s top run-scorer with 1,223 runs at an impressive average of 87.35. This stellar performance included six half-centuries and two centuries, with a highest score of 204. Jadhav’s red-hot form propelled Maharashtra to the final, where they ultimately lost to Karnataka. Beyond his domestic success, Jadhav has also enjoyed a prolific IPL career, featuring in 93 matches and amassing 1,196 runs while playing for various franchises, including Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
