Kate Garraway and daughter Darcey enjoy the tennis following GMB host’s health struggles

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway and her 17 year old daughter Darcey were spotted enjoying the tennis at Wimbledon on Saturday 13 July, despite Kate admitting on air on Friday that she was suffering from a painful eye infection.

In a series of snaps from the Vodafone Suite at the tennis championships in London, Kate showed the pair having a good time and sharing a bowl of strawberries and cream as they watched the Women’s singles final on centre court, where Czech Republic star Barbora Krejcikova beat Italy’s Jasmine Paolini, two sets to one.

“Thank you so much to @vodafoneuk for the best mum & daughter’s day @wimbledon,” Kate wrote alongside the photos. “We haven’t spent the day just the two of us for years – so many giggles! The tennis was sensational too – huge congrats to the brilliant @bkrejcikova for her spectacular win & @jasmine_paolini for battling every point for the most gripping final. #perfectday #gratitude #makingmemories @runraggeduk #lucky #special.”

Fans were quick to send their best wishes to the pair, with one noting that the hat Darcey was wearing in one of the pictures looked familiar. “Derek’s hat?” they asked, referring to Kate’s late husband Derek Draper, who died in January and was dad to Darcey and her younger brother William.

“Yes it is Derek’s hat – good spot!” Kate replied. “She wears it well doesn’t she.”

Another of Kate’s followers added: “Pretty girl and so nice to see you both relaxing and laughing, Derek would be so pleased I am sure.”

Kate looked well in her Wimbledon photos, following her appearance on Good Morning Britain on Friday that had fans worried. After presenting an item on the upcoming Euros football final, the 57 year old had commented: “We know not everybody is a footy fan… by the way, if I’m looking a bit emotional this morning, it’s partly the football, it’s also that I’ve got a rabid eye infection.”

Co-presenter Adil Ray cheekily responded: “I thought you were getting emotional about the game?” To which Kate replied: “There’s an element of that too! When I look through these spectacles I see a win!”

She continued: “They’re rose-tinted and I see a win and I’m manifesting it! I think we should all just embrace something to be joyous about.”

Later in the show, Kate brought up her eye infection again, saying: “I have very sore eyes, I’m borrowing Susanna’s glasses,” referring to her fellow GMB presenter Susanna Reid.

GMB viewers had picked up on her discomfort, with one tweeting: “Is Kate ok? Her eyes don’t look right ? #GMB.” Another viewer clarified: “She said earlier she has an eye infection.”
