Chennai: India and Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik on Saturday announced his retirement from competitive cricket. The Indian Premier League 2024, where Karthik turned out for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, was his last tournament as a player. The 39-year-old represented India in 94 ODIs, 60 T20Is and 26 Tests, scoring 3,463 runs in international cricket, besides guiding TN to multiple white-ball titles across the years. “Having given it plenty of thought for some time now, I have decided to move on from playing representative cricket,” Karthik wrote on social media. “I officially announce my retirement and put my playing days behind me as I square up for the new challenges that lie ahead,” said Karthik.
