UPDATE 10:15 a.m.
Kamloops mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson is not stepping down.
At a news conference Monday morning he described as “resignation consideration,” Hamer-Jackson announced he is not going anywhere and will be running for mayor in the next municipal election.
A group of his supporters who gathered at the news conference cheered his announcement.
“I’ve been under fire prior to day one,” he said, reading from a prepared statement.
“It’s frustrating having to deal with allegation after allegation, And then be muffled by council.”
Hamer-Jackson said he’s heard from other members of the community who plan to run in the next municipal election alongside him, in support of his agenda.
“Thank you to all Kamloops residents who continue to tell me that my goals are their goals,” he said.
More to come…
