Kami Iron Ore Mine Moving to Next Phase of Environmental Assessment

The proposed Kami Iron Ore Mine is moving into the next phase in the Environmental Assessment process

The much-anticipated project was resurrected in 2020 after Champion Iron Mines acquired Kami.

The mine is expected to produce approximately 8.6 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate annually over its estimated 26 year lifespan.

An environmental impact statement is required for the project that will outline things like an estimate of greenhouse gas emissions, waste and water management plans for the entire project, and details on the mine’s proposed power supply, including the location of transmission lines, substations and associated infrastructure and its impact on ratepayers.
