Jon Koenigs Named UW-River Falls Women’s Tennis Head Coach

RIVER FALLS, Wis.

–Jon Koenigs was named the University of Wisconsin-River Falls head women’s tennis coach, announced June 4, 2024.

Koenigs recently served as a volunteer assistant coach for the UWRF women’s tennis team this past season and will take the helm starting in the fall of 2024.

A tennis teaching professional with over 20 years of experience, Koenigs is a Certified PTR Professional 1 & USPTA High Performance Coach. He is currently the Head Tennis Professional at PublicIndoorTennis.com, organizing, implementing and directing all adult and junior tennis programs consisting of 200 weekly players. Jon has also been a coach with Team USA working with the top juniors from the USTA Northern Section and is an owner of Lightning Tennis Camps, traveling throughout rural Minnesota building and developing relationships with high school tennis coaches and administrators.

“I would like to thank Crystal Lanning and Kellen Wells-Mangold for their guidance and support during this process,” Koenigs commented. “I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to be the head coach of the UWRF Women’s Tennis Team. I have much energy and enthusiasm ready for this program and I can’t wait to start.” 

Graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1997, Koenigs was an All-Conference men’s tennis player for the Gusties.

The Falcons are slated to open the 2024 season at Saint Mary’s University on Sept. 6.
