Joe Alwyn says he’s ‘never been’ to Black Dog pub named in Taylor Swift song

Joe Alwyn set the record straight about his association with The Black Dog pub in London after Taylor Swift name-dropped it in her “TTPD” track titled “The Black Dog.”

“I’ve never been to Vauxhall,” the 33-year-old actor claimed to the Sunday Times in an interview published Saturday. The Black Dog is located at 112 Vauxhall Walk in England’s capital city.

The eatery came up as Alwyn discussed some of his favorite things to do in his downtime, which include “seeing friends, traveling, going to the pub.”

In “The Black Dog,” Swift, 34, sings about seeing an ex “walk into some bar called The Black Dog” to “pierce new holes in [her] heart.” Her lyrics have since made the bar a Swiftie landmark that now sells merch inspired by the song.

Although Alwyn denied he has anything to do with the now-famous pub, the outlet reported he was “smiling a smile that hints that there is more to say” as he spoke.

Furthermore, The Black Dog’s owner Lily Bottomley hinted that he has in fact dined there in an April interview.

“I don’t want to give too much away,” she told Sky News. “We do have a certain blond regular who frequents, let’s just say that.”

The “Speak Now” singer and “Kinds of Kindness” star dated between late 2016 and early 2023 and maintained a fierce sense of privacy.

Alwyn spoke out about their split for the first time during his chat with the Times and expressed his wish to continue keeping details about their time together to himself.

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he noted. “That is a hard thing to navigate.”

“What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”

He also declined to comment on whether or not he and Swift are still in touch.

Page Six exclusively confirmed in April 2023 that the actor and musician’s breakup “wasn’t dramatic.”

“[The relationship] just ran its course,” our insider added.
