Jenison teen struck while retrieving basketball from road

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — A 14-year-old Jenison boy was injured Friday, May 31 when he was struck by a pickup while retrieving a basketball from Baldwin Street.

The crash happened about 3:10 p.m. near Walnut Avenue.

Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said the boy was struck by a pickup when he went to retrieve a basketball.

The pickup driver, a 79-year-old Hudsonville man, swerved to avoid the teen but the pickup bumper hit the boy.

Police described the boy’s injuries as moderate and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.
