Jamaica’s New National Team Jerseys Celebrate the Nation’s Rich Carnival Culture

adidas and the Jamaican Football Federation’s men’s and women’s teams have just unveiled their latest home and away kits for the forthcoming internationals, with the designs infusing traditional Jamaica black, gold, and green with patterns and symbols that represent the nation’s rich history, natural beauty, and carnival culture.

The home jersey draws on the island’s Caribbean heritage, as a hand-drawn and wax-painted motif — reminiscent of traditional graphic styles — is embossed throughout the main panel of the jersey. Meanwhile, the graphic also pays tribute to Jamaican nature, featuring symbols of its national bird (doctor bird) and national flower (lignum vitae). Completed with a V-neck collar, the jersey is then complemented by a woven team badge and the team nicknames on the back neck.

For the away strip, a similar graphic to the home jersey is reworked as a tighter, printed design in the eye-catching colors of the Jamaican national flag. At the same time, the vibrant pattern is juxtaposed against black side panels to make the jersey pop on the pitch, in the stands, and on the street.

Additionally, the collection features training wear, a pre-match jersey, and an anthem jacket with bold colors to align with Jamaica’s unmistakable style. What’s more, is that the range is made using 100% recycled materials, continuing adidas’ commitment to help end plastic waste.

You can take a closer look at the new Jamaica jerseys above, and you’ll be able to see them for the first time on-pitch when the Reggae Boyz compete in their FIFA World Cup qualifying matches on June 7 and June 9. The jerseys are also available to purchase now via the official adidas website.
