COLUMBUS — June 13 marked a final hurrah for some Howells-Dodge and Clarkson/Leigh basketball graduates as Central Community College (CCC) hosted its annual All-Star Basketball Games.
Oscar Dominguez, of Howells-Dodge and Trey Steffensmeier, of Clarkson/Leigh, were able to team up for the boy Green Team. On the girls’ side, Chloe Hanel and Gracie Eisenmann, of Clarkson/Leigh, and Howells-Dodge’s Natalie Pieper all suited up for the Green Team.
In the boys game, Dominguez and Steffensmeier helped lead their team to a 75-63 overtime victory.
“It feels amazing to play in this game, I tried my best in the season and it feels great to play in this last game,” Dominguez said. “It felt nice to get to know some of these people and have fun one last time.”
Dominguez was able to score nine points in his final outing as a Jaguar, he is now set to attend Northeast Community College.

“Basketball is my favorite sport and it sucks that I can’t keep going,” Dominguez said. “It happens and I was just glad I got to be a part of the Howells-Dodge basketball program.”

Steffensmeier finished with two points in the win.
“It’s fun and it means a lot to be here,” Steffensmeier said. “It’s an honor playing here. It’s fun playing with new people and it’s fun to make a team out of random people.”
After the win, Steffensmeier also closed his athletic career as he will also study at Northeast CC after graduating from Clarkson/Leigh.
“My time as a Patriot was good,” Steffensmeier said. “Bunch of highs, a bunch of lows but I enjoyed it.”

Girls basketball
The trio of Hanel, Eisenmann and Pieper all closed out their basketball careers with a 48-34 loss to the Silver Team.
Hanel led the Green Team with 11 points on the night before she represented the Patriots of Clarkson/Leigh as a member of the Wayne State College volleyball team.

Eisenmann finished with four points and will also attend Wayne State.
