How to Save on Travel with the Travel Mom

Abbey Bowling and Inside DFW

DALLAS (KDAF) — It’s summer travel season, so if you’re packing up and heading out to the beach, or the mountains, or the city, we’ve got Emily Kaufman the Travel Mom to share tips on how to get the most bang for your buck while on vacation.

Kaufman’s first tip is to look for added value, which is where you get bonuses with your stay — like a free night, resort credits, or discounts. Right now, Maui has incredible value added offers, including some of the most luxurious hotels on the island offering free nights, food and beverage credits, and discounts. Learn more about these ongoing deals here.

Another tip is to take advantage of off-season vacations to save extra money.

“There are beautiful resort communities, like Palm Springs in Scottsdale, Arizona, that are filled with luxurious, five star resorts,” Kaufman said. “You can enjoy them at three star prices. The way that you do that is you come in with a discount, they offer credits for things like spa, dining, golf, so you take advantage of those…you can save significantly at those off-season destinations.”

And if you’re flying internationally, consider flying on a Monday, because those tend to be the best value days. For domestic flights, it’s Tuesday.
