Matt Brocklebank has the best bets from around the tracks on Monday with the Nap running at Yarmouth.
They’ve seemingly found the key to Hover On The Wind and he’s certainly still on the right side of the handicapper if building on his recent course win but much softer ground this time changes things and he’s worth opposing with top-weight PARISIAC, who takes a marked drop in class from the Doncaster event he contested last time. He’s back down to his last winning mark (72) and that was achieved on heavy ground at Newmarket in November so he won’t mind the weather.
GLORY HYDE – 4.00 Redcar
GLORY HYDE hasn’t really gone on from her encouraging second in a York novice last September but she’s come down 9lb as a result and looked on the verge of capitalising when runner-up in a tight finish over this course and distance earlier in the month. She won’t mind there being more dig in the ground on this occasion and can break her duck off the same mark on Monday.
INDEMNITY – 4.15 Leicester
INDEMNITY ran his race a bit back-to-front on handicap debut at Goodwood earlier this month, missing a beat at the start before racing keenly through the early stages, looking to come with a decent challenge before the exertions took their toll late on. Beaten four lengths in fifth, he can be marked up for that first run since November and looks worth another chance off the same mark (80) with James Doyle coming in for the ride.
WESEEKHERTHERE – 4.25 Huntingdon
The ex-Gordon Elliott-trained WESEEKHERTHERE has yet to really catch fire since moving to her current yard but there were some encouraging signs when second at Hereford in November and recent hurdles form could be improved upon now switched to fences and eased in the ratings. She’s now fully 9lb lower than when first switching stables and this sort of test could really suit her.
CITY DERBY – 5.45 Cartmel
CITY DERBY has undergone a recent breathing operation and looks a really interesting one returning to Cartmel where he was successful was only narrowly denied on a couple of occasions around this time last year. Rated 10lb lower now, the handicapper has offered some respite and it would be no shock to see him bounce back to form with a strong pace to chase thanks to the likes of Winds Of Fire, Sanosuke and Mr Rumbalicious who all like to get on with it.
SHARK TWO ONE gave a very clear indication that he was back in good form when beaten three-quarters of a length by a red-hot rival (who was completing a hat-trick) over six furlongs here earlier in the month and, although raised a couple of pounds for his troubles, he’ll appreciate going back up to seven furlongs this time. The son of Adaay – rated in the mid-90s at one stage – is perfectly happy with cut in the ground too so he rates a solid selection.
SHADOWOFYOURSMILE – 3.35 Redcar
Some interesting handicap newcomers in here but SHADOWOFYOURSMILE has a good pedigree and Charlie Fellowes trained the half-brother Grand Alliance, who won on handicap debut as a three-year-old for the same owners. This daughter of Gleneagles improved for the move up to 12 furlongs in a Doncaster maiden last month, her first run since January, and promises to be well suited by this even greater test of stamina.
DAISY ROOTS – 4.45 Brighton
DAISY ROOTS is building quite a consistent profile so far this season and just looked to bump into one when second to Conquest Of Power at Lingfield last time. The winner has gone in again since under a 5lb penalty but Daisy Roots gets another chance off the same mark and she won’t mind odd rain shower if it materialises down south.
SEE YOU TONIGHT – 6.40 Lingfield
SEE YOU TONIGHT made no impact on turf debut at Nottingham recently but I think it’s a run we can scrap as the winner made all and See You Tonight just didn’t settle at the back of the field early on. She’ll be happier back on an all-weather surface here and an opening mark of 74 doesn’t look harsh at all given her Kempton maiden win from February has worked out reasonably well.
FINEST VIEW – 7.55 Bangor
FINEST VIEW has clearly enjoyed returning to her former yard after winning at Stratford on her second run back with Alan King just last month. She got the job done by a narrow margin there and has a line more on her plate in this line-up but she’s only gone up 2lb to a mark of 113 and has won handicaps off marks in the 120s inside the past two years so she should remain seriously competitive at this level.
