Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected as special weather statement falls on Waterloo Region

Heavy rains and strong winds are heading towards Waterloo Region and surrounding communities, prompting a special weather statement.

According to Environment Canada, 40 mm of rain is expected over a few hours starting Wednesday evening, with winds gusting to 80 km/h.

Scattered thunderstorms are also expected, bringing with them hail, heavy rains, and gusty winds.

Environment Canada is urging the public to monitor alerts and forecasts and to report severe weather to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca.
