Heavenly Sunday, trained by 2016 Mint Julep winner Brad Cox,
made her 4-year-old debut on Kentucky Oaks day, finishing fourth and beaten by
only 1 1/4 lengths by Fast as Flight in the Modesty (G3). As a 3-year-old, she
got her first graded-stakes score when she defeated 10 rivals in the Edgewood
Stakes (G2). In her final race of the year, Heavenly Sunday dominated a field
of nine 3-year-old fillies in the Mrs. Revere Stakes (G3).
Jockey Florent Géroux will be in the irons next Sunday and
break from post 8 on Heavenly Sunday, who is owned by Miacomet Farm.
Henrietta Topham, a 6-year-old mare owned by Cambus-Kenneth
Farm, is scheduled to make her first start of the year for trainer Geoff
Mulcahy. In last year’s race she gamely got by heavy favorite White Frost in
deep stretch to win by a half-length at odds of 8-1. After that race the
daughter of Lemon Drop Kid finished third in the Indiana General Assembly
Distaff before three consecutive sixth-place finishes in the Kentucky Downs
Preview Ladies Turf Mile, the Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Mile (G3) and the Dowager
(G3).
James Graham, who teamed with Henrietta Topham in the 2023 Mint
Julep, will be back aboard from post 2.
Tom Benson Memorial winner Delahaye, Pucker Up (G3) winner
Safeen and Group 3 winner Immensitude also are in the Mint Julep field.
