Where good news shines
Sienna Betts was the best player on a big stage.
Even if the competition was all but nonexistent.
Betts, a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year from Grandview, led USA Basketball to the gold medal in the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup in Colombia Sunday. The U.S. beat Canada, 80-69.
Betts, who has committed to UCLA, had a game-high 20 points and six rebounds in a semifinal win over Argentina. She had a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds in the gold-medal win over Canada.
The U.S. went 6-0 in the tournament, including wins by 46, 80, 95, 98 and 77 points.
