Google Cuts Prices In Pixel 8 Pro Special Offer

Google has announced a launch event on August 13, which should see the launch of the new Pixel 9 range of smartphones. Before then, the company has slashed the prices of the existing Pixel 8 range. These are attractive offers if you don’t need the absolute bleeding edge of technology.

In the UK, the Pixel 8 Pro has a £350 price cut on the entry-level £999 model that ships with 128 GB of storage, taking it to £649. The 256 GB model is now £709, and the 512 GB model is £829. In addition to the price cuts, ordering online with Google allows you to trade in an older smartphone from a wide range of manufacturers. The company is currently offering up to £665 for your old phone—although to get that price, you’ll need to trade in a recent high-speced flagship such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The Pixel 8’s list price of £699 has been cut by £200 down to £499 for the 128 GB model, and £359 for the 256 GB model. The trade-in option is also available, offering up to £645.

Finally on the phone front, the Pixel 8a—already competitively priced for a mid-range phone— has its price cut from £499 to £419.

US consumers have their own discounts, but they are not as attractive as those in the UK, just $250 (£190) off the Pixel 8 Pro, $150 (£115) off the Pixel 8, and $50 (£40) off the Pixel 8a. There’s a similar shortfall in trade-in values, with the maximum US value of $749, the equivalent of £575 in the UK.

These deals all stand in the shadow of August’s launch event, where the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be superseded by the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, along with the new Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Fold. Current indications are these smartphones will be more expensive at launch than the Pixel 8 family, but Google may sweeten the deal with these new handsets for those needing the latest hardware.

Perhaps that’s why these deals will come to an end on August 6?
