Davis vs. Martin took place June 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., Gervonta Davis (30-0) and Frank Martin (20-1) squared off in the the main event clash. The fight aired live on pay-per-view on PPV.com and Amazon.

Round 1: Davis immediately takes the center of the ring. Martin opens by pawing out a few jabs. Martin swings a left to the body. Davis pressures him into the ropes. Slow start here. Lots of feeling each other out. Martin paws out a few more jabs. Davis tosses out a short counter. Martin really the only one applying offense right now. Martin sticks a left hand in Davis’ face. One-two by Martin tries to split the guard. Left to the body by Martin. Davis still just chilling. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Martin.

Round 2: Martin fires off another pair of left hands. Nothing is landing flush here, but he’s trying. Davis just continues to walk forward and apply pressure without returning fire. Martin darts around the ring and paws out of a few jabs and crosses. More of the same from Martin. Davis is staying coiled up like a spring. Finally, lead left hand by Davis bounces off the guard. Round 3: Martin explodes into a combination that’s blocked off the opening bell. Martin is throwing much more than Davis, he’s just not landing anything. Davis grins and steps back into the pocket. Davis jabs to the body, then goes up top with a left. Davis sneaks a right hand onto Martin’s jaw. Davis tries to bully Martin into the corner but Martin explodes into a nice counter left. Lunging one-two from Martin, followed by a nice combination! OK, that was good. Davis covers up then smacks Martin with a right hand. Martin lets him hear at after the bell. Things are heating up. Round 4: Martin goes back to work with his jaw then flurries in the center of the ring. Martin darts out and resets. Man is fast, I’ll give him that. Davis unloads a left hand to the body. Martin tags Davis with a three-piece. Big uppercut just misses from Davis, and Martin almost takes him down with a single-leg. Well then. Davis just barely misses with a heavy shot from the clinch. Martin triples up his jab. Davis smacks him to the body. Ohhh, huge left uppercut by Davis! That was a mean shot. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Davis. (39-37 Martin.)

Round 5: Davis seems to be coming on now. This is teeeeeennnse. Good escape by Martin as Davis flurries. Martin goes high-low. Davis pressures Martin into the ropes and Martin frantically tries to get out. Martin clinches. Back to the center of the ring and Davis is walking this man down. Martin pops out a few jabs. Again, Martin escapes the corner. Davis is cutting off this ring incredibly well. Martin feels trapped. Martin picks his shots with a few jabs, but eats an uppercut followed by a right hook. Davis swarms inside but Martin connects with a solid counter right. More jabs from Martin. Davis goes to the body. Close round to score. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Martin. (49-46 Martin.)

Round 6: Martin immediately triples up his jab. Nice exchange in the center of the ring. Davis continues to walk him down and attempt to trap him in the corner. Martin jabs and circles. Davis unloads in the corner but can’t land flush. Martin escapes again and pops out that jab. Chopping left hand lands for Davis. Martin is just allowing himself to be cornered now. Davis completely disrespecting Martin’s power. Davis doubles up his jab. Martin finally fires back and resets. Davis smacks a right hand to the ribs. This is Davis’ best round, by far. Round 7: Martin continues to be all about movement and that jab. Davis continues to cut off the ring and pressure him into the corner. Oh, nasty left hand to the body by Davis, followed by a sick right hand up top. Oh boy. We’re rolling now. Martin allows himself to be backed into the corner again and Davis chops at him with heavy shots. Massive combination by Davis as Martin just stands in front of his with a high guard. Martin is retreating now. This pressure is relentless. Martin is letting him do it. Davis keeps chopping away with heavy hooks. More shots against the ropes by Davis. Round 8: Davis picks up right where he left off, stalking Martin into the corner and unloading with heavy punches. Martin escapes and peppers up his jab. Davis eats a few more jabs then starts pummeling Martin in the corner! OOOOHHHH, HUGE SHOT!!!! MARTIN IS DOWN! THIS IS OVER!!! Good lord. My goodness.
